Moose and Stu

(#4)

My high school baseball coach was the legendary Bill “Moose” Perry. He was a clone of another Mississippi high school baseball coaching legend, D.M. Howie. They were two of a kind.

Coach Perry’s Forest Hill Rebels went 29-1 and won the Mississippi High School, Class AA baseball state championship in 1974.

His coaching strategy for that season?

Pitch Stewart Cliburn every game!

Except the one they lost.

That’s quite a winning formula.

I would have done the same thing!

The legendary Bill “Moose” Perry. Note: This photo is from 2005 when he was a volunteer coach on my staff at Hinds. The number 53 was a tribute to MLB right-hander Chad Bradford.
The great Stewart Cliburn.
