Old School Pitchers

(#34)

Here’s something you don’t see any more.

Hinds was playing in NJCAA Division 2 District E Playoffs in 1994 against Chattahoochee Valley Community College at the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama.

Our three starting pitchers, David Townsend, Chad Bradford, and Eric Bock each pitched complete games in the three game series.

Townsend pitched 9 innings and outdueled future MLB right-hander Tim Hudson (A’s, Braves, Cardinals), 9-6 in the opener. (Note: Andre Thompson hit two home runs off Hudson in the game)

Bradford pitched 8 innings in the first championship game and lost a heartbreaker 1-0.

Bock pitched 9 innings in the championship game, the “if” game, winning 11-1.

Three stud right-handers pitched their best when their best was needed. Toughness! Championships!

I miss those days.

We advanced to the NJCAA Division II World Series in Millington, Tennessee and Hinds was the first Mississippi team to do that. It was our second World Series.

Eric Bock, Chad Bradford, David Townsend. Studs. War Eagles!
