(#36)
Here are some of the success principles that worked pretty well for the Magnolia Academy Raiders and Hinds Community College Eagles over the years.
Our baseball program will be built on this foundation:
Discipline, consistency, and sound fundamentals.
The essential attitudes for our success will be:
Discipline, confidence, motivation, and determination; toughness.
Our motto:
Striving for Baseball Excellence
Our philosophy:
To focus on the process of hitting, fielding, throwing, running, bunting, and pitching. The consistent execution of these things will give us our best chance to win. You don’t just win games. You have to do the things it takes to win. You have master these skills and do them well, effectively and efficiently and you have to do them in practice and then on each pitch of every game.
The four musts for our players:
Must have a great attitude, must be coachable, must always play hard, compete and must be mentally & physically tough competitors. No exceptions. These must-be components are ingrained in the character of our players.
The four no’s (must nots):
No fear. Play like you ain’t scared of nothing. No excuses. Excuses and real reasons just point out that you didn’t get what you wanted. No letting up either when winning or losing. No quitting. Play hard for 27 outs on offense and defense.
The Rules:
- Always do the right things and do the right things the right way.
- Always represent your team, your school, and yourself in a first class manner at all times, on and off the field.
- Always win with class and lose with dignity.
- The team is more important than any individual. We play for the name on the front of the jersey, not the ones on the back.
- Do your job and encourage your teammates.
- Players have absolutely nothing negative to say to umpires; including facial expressions, gestures, and other body language. Deal with what happens, stay focused, and reset to default on the next pitch.
- Always respect, but never fear any opponent. Compete on each pitch of every game no matter what circumstances you face.
