(#93)
I found a classic old video tape of a Roast of Bill “Moose” Perry done back in the 1980’s to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis organization. The event was held at one of the old motels in off Ellis Avenue around Highway 80; can’t remember if it was the old Best Western or the one across the street. They’re both gone now. There was quite a distinguished crowd at the event.
The emcee was former WAPT Sports Anchor Ken Anderson and guest roasters included D.M. Howie, “Twink” Sexton, me, Bob Braddy, Cal Adams, Doug Shanks and others. Mala Harris performed “Wind Beneath My Wings.” And of course, Coach Perry’s spoke.
My son Jake converted the tape to digital and I’ll feature some of the speakers in blog posts over the next few days.
First up is high school coaching legend D.M. Howie. It’s classic Howie.
Enjoy and share with those who loved Coach Howie.
