Yesterday was the 2022 home opener for Hinds at Joe G. Moss Field in Raymond. The weather was perfect and the field looked great.
Got a post on Facebook from Stirling Madden, a teammate of mine when we both played on the 1973 team when Hinds reinstated baseball for the first time since 1958.
The field we played on sat in the exact location as “Joe G.” Here’s what the “ole” right-hander said:
That field looks exactly like the one we built in ‘73… except:
– We didn’t have lights.
– We didn’t have a scoreboard.
– We didn’t have a fence.
– We didn’t have bleachers.
– We didn’t have dugouts.
– We didn’t have concessions.
– We didn’t have uniforms or baseball caps (we wore football pants and football jerseys).
But, other then that it looks exactly the same. 🙂
