(#99)

Spring has sprung and baseball season is in full bloom.
And as the teams try to establish their game plans for the season, here are some tips.
It’s been said that pitching and defense are 90% of the game, but think about this. The offensive side of the game, hitting, bunting, and baserunning, is the part of the game that is connected to the only absolute rule of baseball: “The team with the most runs wins!”
Or better still, the team with the most runs ALWAYS wins.
Not sometimes wins. ALWAYS wins. Every single time. Absolutely. No exceptions, ever.
And no matter how good the pitching is on any given day, the team with the best pitcher does not always win.
Not unless his team scores one more run than he allows.
With a great pitching performance, 1-0 will work. Other days it might take 15 runs to win 15-14. You either give up less or score more or both. You’ve got to have the total package; offense and defense and a solid, plan for both.
So, to win, you have to consistently find ways to score, hitting, bunting and baserunning. And if the other team scores one more run than you do, you lose. But when you score one more than they do, you win.
Always!
That’s baseball… a complex, yet simple game. It’s still the great American pastime.
