Post Season Necessities…

(#174)

Post season baseball is here. It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The regular season with all its ups and downs is over and done with. Some teams made it to the post season. Some did not. You can’t win it if you ain’t in it, but if you are, you’ve got a shot. So think and play like you do have a shot. It’s a fun time when everybody starts over with a record of 0-0, doubleheaders are over and all bets are off.

The mid-season slump doesn’t matter any more and even if you ran the table and played flawlessly all season… beware. If you are a top seed you still have to perform well to have a chance and if you are the last one in, go out there and screw up somebody else’s great season. Play like you have nothing to lose with no fear and leave it all on the field. Remember that pressure is self-induced. It’s when you find yourself thinking about all the wrong things. A powerful, positive and fearless mindset is a dangerous thing on the baseball field.

Your performance tends to gravitate toward your expectations. So focus only on what you want and play the game pitch-by-pitch, one pitch at a time, expecting success on each pitch of every game. Project the body language of success at all times.

And in the end, there will only one team who wins their last game.

But the team that wins will have to rely on the “Big Four.” Toughness will be the difference maker and a little “that’s baseball” luck.

Play hard! Compete! Have fun!
