We are pleased to announce that the Coach Bill “Moose” Perry Endowed Scholarship has been established at Hinds Community College. It a great opportunity to honor his legacy. Thanks to all who helped make this possible. The first scholarship will be this fall (2025).
The Mississippi College baseball program has purchased a new sign in Coach’s honor for the hitting facility named in his honor.
The Mississippi Association Coaches (MAC) has created a special award in Coach’s honor to be given to a selected baseball coach each summer at the MAC Coaches Clinic. Coach attended the clinic for 24 consecutive years and opened the session in prayer each year. Thanks to MAC Executive Director Johnny Mims and Board of Directors for making this happen.
The first annual Bill “Moose” Perry Award was presented to longtime William Carey University Head Baseball Coach, Bobby Halford, at the MAC Coaches Clinic at the Sheridan, Refuge in Flowood on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
From Kendall Smith: The Coach Perry Fruit Giveaway was a great success today (Saturday, December 21, 2024). Over 30 friends of “Moose” showed up and 400 bags delivered to 10 locations, including a homeless encampment on South Gallatin Street that Coach would have loved meeting and sharing with them.
Other stops: VA Nursing Home, Son Valley Center for handicapped, Sunnybrook Children Home, Gateway Rescue Mission, Dismus Federal Prison on Rankin Street, Soul City Church in midtown area of Jackson, and of course Poindexter Park.
It was an awesome tribute to Coach! Bigger and better next year. Thanks to all for “stepping up to the plate.” Thanks to Kendall Smith for leading the way.
