I’m building a massive collection of photo memories and the stories behind them from all my years in baseball, as a player at Forest Hill and Hinds, and as coach… mostly at Magnolia Academy and Hinds… although a few good moments from my almost full season at Pearl. Here’s just a taste of what’s to come.

2026 Fruit Distribution in memory of Coach PerryThe Great Ricky Chisolm – The poster boy for the fearless, competitor. He was the player I had in mind when I came up with the term “intestical” fortitude. He won 32 games in three seasons a Magnolia Academy.William Carey head baseball coach Bobby Halford receives first annual Bill “Moose” Perry Award from the MACHitting facility at Mississippi College named in Coach’s honorSteven Dickey won 16 games in 1981 when the Raiders became the first Mississippi high school team to win 40 games in a seasonSpecial plaque commemorating the 40 win season at Magnolia Academy; the first ever in Mississippi high school baseball.This history making feat was worth celebrating.Eric Bock, Chad Bradford and David Townsend each pitched complete games defeating Chattahoochee Valley to send Hinds to the D2 World Series; the first Mississippi team to do so.The famous bus breakdown on the way to the 1999 Region 23 Tournament in Senatobia. We arrived 15 minutes before game time to play the #1 team in the country with no lunch, no BP, no pre-game infield and no excuses… won 10-2 in 7 innings.The 1999 post-season miracle team. Won Region 23 and Central District championships and finished 4th in the D2 World Series and knocked off the #1 team in the country 3 times along the way.Tribute to Magnolia Academy Raiders.Unprecedented 26 championships for the Raiders between 1977-82.I told Steven Bourgeois that he had a better chance to get struck by lightning than to make it to the big leagues. He called me one evening from Atlanta and said, “Coach, this is Bou. I just got struck by lightning.” Pitched against the Braves that night. Josh had one of the greatest post season runs on the mound in 2008 for Clinton High School.Glen Higdon pitched in 25 of 37 games during the 1983 season for another coaching legend, Bill Marchant, at Hinds and posted 13 wins, 5 saves, and an incredible ERA of 0.95. That’s just 15 earned runs in 110 innings pitched, both equally incredible numbers. And that’s after being the team manager in 1982. The 13 wins and 0.95 ERA are still records at Hinds all these years later.Stacy Williams a center fielder from St. Aloysius hit three home runs and drove in 9 runs in a 20-13 win in the Region 23 Tournament opener against Northwest in 1998. He hit a home run to left field, over the flag pole in center field and off the “fair” pole in right field. Coach Castle asked how many HRs he had hit on the season and I said, “3.” It was really five, but I wanted to see the look on Coach’s face.1974 State AA Champions at Forest Hill High School. The index fingers mean #1. Every time I post this photo, everybody says, “I bet Bobby Bounds couldn’t put you on his shoulders now.” Truth.My favorite photo. Eddie Lofton doing some head bobbing and spitting to Josh in 2008. Josh is looking him right in the eyes and taking the instruction like a champ. I send this photo to Josh every year on his birthday. Caption: Eddie Lofton says “Happy Birthday!”Yes we did… and yes, we still do.Awarded to all seniors at FH in 1972. I still have it all these years later. It’s in the Clarke Baseball Museum and Garage.I see this photo of Coach in the 70s and realize how fun it was and how hard it was to play for him. If they called me “Little Hitler” at Magnolia, I’m not sure I can tell you what we called him at FH. He left his mark(s) on me and I have the scars to prove it (said like Groucho Marx).State Championship in 1974. Coach Perry and Coach Course. I have another photo of the look on the face of MAC director Johnny Mims as the Moosers gathered in a time of prayer down front, hijacking the awards ceremony for Coach.From the FH School yearbook- Rebel. 1972. The number 53 was a tribute to the great Chad Bradford.Long time big leaguer, Pat Rapp.Rapp gave me this when he was inducted into the Hinds Sports Hall of Fame. Still have it and it’s in pristine condition.JUCO baseball royalty… Jim Miles and Don Castle from Northwest. What wars we had. Thanks to NWCC head coach Mark Castle for doing this in pre-game ceremonies in the playoffs at Senatobia in 2024. Priceless!The Coaches.Kevin Cronin hit a massive 3 run homer of this scoreboard to break an 11 game losing streak to Co-Lin in the Region 23 Tournament winner’s bracket game at Senatobia.Yearbook dedication at Magnolia.I picked out my own seat at Joe G. Moss Field and made my own name plate.This is a tribute to the great history making 1989 Hinds team. Hinds wouldn’t hang it, so it’s in the Clarke Baseball Museum and Garage.Yes, first in history to do this.1989 Region 23 Champions.George McQuitter, Clyde Muse, Rene Warren and me. 1989 State Championship.Quincy LeBlanc won 4 post season games in 1999. This one a 3-2 win eliminating #1 Kirkwood from the World Series. Stan Prewitt hits a game winning home run against Parklane to send Magnolia to the State Championship series against Greenville Christian. Quite the stash of Hinds collectibles over a 15 year period.
